Since dA seems uninterested in addressing the problem I mentioned in my last journal, and I would like to share my new creations with dA members, should I:
A. Put an ugly watermark on my pics (something I really don't want to do), or
B. Post a small image with a link in the comments (or a url if they don't allow links) to a better size?

What do you think?

I just sent this into the help desk to inquire about it and am waiting to hear back but thought I would put it out there to you guys for your feelings on the subject.

I have noticed lately that when I download a full view picture that it has what looks like a hexidecimal code as the file name instead of the name of the piece as it is in small view or download. Since there is an ongoing problem with people downloading pictures and then posting to blogs this removes any traceability to the original artist even in innocent postings. I realize that the file name can be easily changed by someone who is intentionally ripping a piece, but this introduces possibilities of further ripping. It also damages the artists ability to keep their piece from finding it's way into the public domain.

I realize that with over 51 million pieces on the site that naming conventions get difficult but the small view already carries the name of the piece as does the download version. So why the incomprehensible code for the large view?

I am hesitant to upload any new works with the present naming convention because of the possibilities for confusion that it makes possible when we need to be working for the opposite. So what do you think? Are you comfortable with your work being downloaded with no mention in the file name of either your name or the name of the piece?

If doing the creative expression that you loved the most caused you intense physical pain, would you still do it?

mistressofspam stepped up and gave me a sub and the problem went away. Thank you, dear lady. It was suggested that the problem was merely a bug and not a feature of not having a subscription.
